Ernesto R. Guevara de la Serna, Che Guevara, was born in Rosario, Argentina on June 14, 1928. Che became a revolutionary leader after completing his medical studies at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. Once completing medical school, he went around South America and saw the poverty among the cities and towns and decided to turn to politics. Then in 1954, he met Cuban revolutionaries Fidel and Raul Castro in Mexico.

Shortly after, Guevara was recruited onto Castro’s plan of overthrowing the government in Cuba. He was promoted to military advisor for Castro and led the guerilla troops in battles. Four years later in 1959 when Castro took over, Che became in charge of La Cabaña Fortress prison. There, it’s believed to know that Guevara executed about 550 inmates during his time in power.

He then transferred the country’s trade relations from United States to the Soviet Union. In 1966, he went around to Bolivia in regards to getting the people of Bolivia to rebel but had little success. On October 9, 1967, Che was captured and killed. Ever since then, he became a huge political figure known for his rebellion, revolution, and socialism views.
